Paavan Popat, chief executive of TLC Group, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours List for his contribution to adult social care, workforce wellbeing and age-inclusive living.

A recognised leader in the care sector, Paavan was a pivotal member on HM Government’s Older People’s Housing Taskforce and is a leading voice in developing national and regional policy for inclusive intergenerational housing and placemaking.

Under his guidance, TLC Group became the only care home operator to achieve Investors in People Platinum and the first globally to receive IIP Wellbeing Platinum, while also delivering ‘Outstanding’ CQC-rated services, including the UK’s first purpose-built South Asian care home.

Popat said: “I’m very thankful to receive this recognition and to be part of a sector defined by compassion and quiet dedication.

“Any progress I’ve been able to make has been because of committed teams who genuinely care about the people they support.

“I’m also deeply grateful to my parents and to my guru, Morari Bapu, whose teachings continue to ground me in the values of respect, kindness and responsibility.

“I hope this honour draws attention to the vital role care professionals play in improving lives every single day.”
