Active Care Group has officially opened Bilberry Lodge, a new six-bed residential adult mental health service for women in Rishton, Lancashire.

Bilberry Lodge has been developed to provide a safe and supportive environment for women living with complex mental health needs.

Staff will support adults with a range of conditions, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

The service brings together a multidisciplinary team of managers, mental health nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and support workers to provide tailored support based on individual need.

And residents will be encouraged to explore new skills and engage in a variety of activities, fostering personal growth and a sense of empowerment – key components of the group’s ethos.

Bilberry Lodge is one of four Active Care Group adult mental health residential services in the Lancashire area, alongside Oswald House (female only), Whalley Road (male only), and Blackburn Road (all genders).

To mark the launch, an open day was hosted for visitors and colleagues, featuring a tour of the facilities refreshments, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony by local councillor, Kate Walsh, and Active Care Group’s chief executive, Keith Browner.

Browner said: “We’re delighted to welcome everyone to Bilberry Lodge today and introduce our newest service.

“This has been a chance to showcase the work that has gone into creating a safe, respectful space where women can focus on their mental health and recovery.

“I’m proud of the team and excited to see the positive impact Bilberry Lodge will have in the months and years ahead.”
