Positive Support Group (PSG), a UK specialist in positive behaviour support (PBS) for children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, has been chosen to become the European Centre of Excellence for Multi-Element Behaviour Support (MEBS) Service Delivery and Implementation.
Selected as a centre of excellence by the US-based non-profit organisation, the Institute for Applied Behavior Analysis (IABA) Research and Education Foundation (IREF), PSG joins an international network of centres of excellence and also becomes IREF’s authorised provider of MEBS training in the UK and Europe – from a short micro-credential to a comprehensive modular programme.
CQC’s ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance expects services for people with a learning disability and autistic people to guarantee choice, dignity and independence. MEBS gives teams a structured way to turn those expectations into everyday practice.
Sarah Wakeling, Ffunder and chief executive of PSG, said: “Twenty years ago, working with IABA fundamentally shaped my thinking about what outstanding behaviour support could and should look like. MEBS gave the teams around the person a practical and quality assuring framework they could understand, apply and use to improve the quality of support they deliver every day. This partnership is an exciting opportunity to look at the UK landscape with fresh eyes, challenge ourselves to keep improving, and make sure the very best thinking in behaviour support translates into better lives for the people we support.”
Jessica Aviles, chief clinical and auality Officer at PSG, added: “What sets MEBS apart is its rigour and comprehensivenes. It does not stop at a good plan. Its Periodic Service Review checks that support is delivered as intended, which is the assurance families, commissioners and inspectors increasingly expect.”
PSG will host a free introductory webinar on MEBS on Tuesday 3 November. Its first MEBS micro-credential runs on 26 November 2026, followed by a four-day MEBS course.
