Orbis Education and Care has completed the refurbishment and modernisation of its adult complex care facility, Ty George, in Bridgend.

The four-bedroom home has undergone a major transformation to better support its residents, who may have a mental health diagnosis or additional needs such as a learning disability or autism.

The new Ty George features a large kitchen, a dining, and living room, enabling residents to socialise and cook together, as well as two acres of outdoor space surrounding the house.

Those living at Ty George will also have access to Orbis’s clinical services and its innovative Academy Living initiative, a unique and progressive initiative that gives adults hands-on, real-world work skills, as well as optional accreditations.

Run out of two centres in Porth in the Rhondda and Morriston, these person-centred programmes are designed to help residents advance their life skills, allowing them to live more independently.

Lou Aubrey, director at Orbis Education and Care, said: “It’s great to see the home finished and open to new residents.

“We have invested a lot of time and money in getting the best facilities possible at Ty George and it looks amazing.

“Our adult facilities are designed for our residents – ensuring they everything they need to live happily and independently, as well as making sure their care needs are totally cared for.

“Ty George is a perfect example of this, with the two living rooms, the availability of ensuite rooms, as well as access to our Academy Living programme.”

She added: “Our adult services are all about promoting personal development, community connection, and future independence and we think Ty George epitomises that ethos.”
