Ethicare (Durham) sold to Clonard Care

Ethicare (Durham), a supported living and day care business based in Sherburn Hill, Durham, has been acquired by the long-established operator, Clonard Care.
Ethicare (Durham) operated two supported living units and one day centre, providing care for adults with learning disabilities across the North East.
The business has delivered high-quality care for over a decade and has established a strong reputation within the local community.
It has maintained consistently-high occupancy levels and benefits from operational efficiencies due to the close proximity of its supported living properties.
The client decided to sell the business as part of a planned retirement, creating an opportunity for an experienced operator to acquire a well-established service with clear potential for continued growth in response to local demand.
The sale was handled by Asif Musa, senior sales negotiator at Redwoods Dowling Kerr.
He said: “Ethicare (Durham) was a well-run and respected supported living and daycare business with a long-standing reputation for quality care.
“The strength of the operation and the demand for services in the area made this an attractive acquisition and I am pleased to have completed the sale on behalf of the client as they move into retirement.”
Clonard Care is a well-established operator growing quickly, with Home Care Assist also sold to the buyer in late 2025.
